Roger Platt

Washington, DC

Roger Platt serves as President of the U.S. Green Building Council. Since being appointed to that position in 2014, Roger has singularly focused on market development, stakeholder engagement and strategic relationship management of all of our USGBC customers to take USGBC's mission to a new level. USGBC’s mission — advanced in over 250 countries — with the use of LEED and a growing range of other powerful tools for market transformation — is "to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life."

He previously held the position of Senior Vice President, Global Policy and Law where he was responsible for overseeing the policy aspects of the increasingly global adoption of green building and urban development practices. Before joining USGBC in 2009, Roger spent 15 years as a senior executive and policy counsel with the Real Estate Roundtable in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Platt served as an urban land use and business lawyer in San Francisco, CA, focusing on the city’s two largest neighborhood-sized development projects.

A longtime member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), he serves as a member of its Board of Trustees. Roger also currently serves on the board of the World Green Building Council, whose members are the 100+ green building councils throughout the world. He is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of San Francisco School of Law.
